Myer Briggs Type Indicator

Myers Briggs Type Indicator is designed to help individuals become better acquainted with the personality that they are born with and how they are different to others. The profile will demonstrate differences among people and how we can work individually or as part of a team to achieve the best outcomes.

What does it measure?

The MBTI is a questionnaire designed to assess a person’s preferences along the four dimensions of Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling and Judging-Perception:

  • The extraversion and introversion dimension refers to the way we prefer to focus our attention and get energy.
  • The sensing and Intuition dimension refers to the way we prefer to take in information.
  • The thinking and feeling dimension refers to the way we prefer to make decisions.
  • The judging and perceiving dimension refers to our orientation to the external world.

What can it be used for?

The MBTI is a powerful team building tool. Whether you are trying to build a dynamic work group, solve team problems, or create a more effective and productive team. Using the MBTI with teams you can:

  • improve communication while increasing your productivity
  • provide a framework to deal with conflict
  • promote appreciation of differences and diversity
  • identify areas where improvement needs to be done with teams and individuals
  • shows team members how to value and get the best out of each other’s strengths

Workshops based on MBTI help individuals understand their preferred working style, learn how best to work with others, and determine their personal goals and those of the organisation can be implemented.

An expected outcome for most team building sessions is that participants learn how to work together more efficiently and effectively to accomplish their goals whilst maintaining healthy relationships.

The MBTI has a positive orientation and helps foster trust within a team. It provides a framework for understanding human behaviour and a common understood language to discuss behaviour in constructive terms.

Importantly through type individuals can feel valued for their unique gifts, which can result in a spirit of co-operation and enhances productivity and closeness of teams.

The MBTI can also be used to help the team proceed smoothly towards raising and exploring and resolving a team’s interpersonal conflicts and stylistic differences.

Workshops

All workshops are tailored to meet the needs of the organisation. We send the MBTI questionnaire to your organisation two weeks before the workshop. Participants have one week to complete the questionnaire and return the questionnaire to Innovation Psychology.

We than compile and analyse the data and create MBTI reports for each participant and customise learning activities for your team building workshop based on the spread of profiles.

Workshops provided can be from a one day introductory workshop to MBTI to a two or three day workshop depending on what needs to be accomplished from the organisations perspective.

Please contact Innovation Psychology so we can discuss your needs.
